Modern language education and teaching publications in early modern Europe

Biography:

I am developing a research project that focuses on the connections between the movement of peoples and the traffic in books across Europe and between Europe and the Colonial World (Americas in particular). Of particular interest to me is the role played by migrants and their descendants in modern language education (either as tutors and/or as authors of language teaching publications) and in the book trade, with particular focus on French Huguenot émigrés, émigrés during the Revolutionary wars, labour migrants, especially from France and Germany. Equally of interest to me in this context are the multilingual migrants to the West Indies/Americas during the seventeenth/eighteenth centuries.
