Biography:

  • Most recent published work looks at the decline of lawyers in the British House of Commons. 
  • Law as Engineering proposes a reconceptualisation of law as a design profession concerned not with litigation but with the creation of artificial social structure. 
  • Currently working on how UK non-judicial officials conceive of the basic norms of the UK constitution and on the politics of public law. 
  • Has also recently published on the reform of libel law. 
  • Active as a legal scholar in the field of private law, especially the law of tort.

Research Interests

  • Research interests focus on the relationship between law and politics and on the political and other functions of the legal profession.
